Geomodeler

IRT are in need of a geo-modeler to work on various simulation oriented projects in Denver and across the world. While our primary focus is reservoir simulation, we also have an increasing need for practicing geoscientists to help clients work on conceptual studies, data acquisition programs and day-to-day reservoir management issues.

Requirements for a geoscientist / geo-modeler

  1. Cross-disciplinary educational / work experience background
  2. Experience in
    1. Seismic interpretation
    2. Petrophysics
    3. Structural Geology
    4. Stratigraphy
  3. Geo-modeling as a full-time activity, not part-time
  4. Aptitude for using various software platforms and computing
  5. Willingness to work with an interdisciplinary team

Preferred candidate will have;

  1. 5+ years working experience
  2. Experience building static models with Roxar.s RMS or Schlumberger.s Petrel
  3. Understanding of how geocellular models are implemented in dynamic reservoir simulation.
  4. Creative innovation to develop a "solution" that fits the "problem".

Other Considerations;

At IRT, our geoscientists have been called upon to work in a wide variety of environments including:

  • Interact with clients from various cultural backgrounds
  • On-site in clients offices working at their direction
  • Part of an Integrated Study team working in Denver or on-site
  • Standalone geo-modeling projects working in Denver or on-site

While the bulk of our work is performed in Denver, an ability / willingness to travel both domestically and internationally may be required, approximately 25% (or 3 months) over the course of a calendar year is not uncommon.

Senior Petrophysicist

IRT seeks an experienced senior petrophysicist to join our team of highly experienced and professional staff. The potential candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing reservoir descriptions or characterization studies using innovative analysis techniques.
  • Evaluating rock and fluid petrophysical properties incorporating a full array of data types including open and cased hole logs, special and routine core analysis, image log analysis, well tests, drilling data, or formation pressures.
  • Preparing petrophysical formation evaluation modules for single or multi-well processing to achieve desired results specific to project and client's needs.
  • Integrating petrophysical reservoir properties into geologic and simulation models to achieve superior predictions and assessments.
  • Reporting and presentation of petrophysical analysis methodology and results to clients.

Special skills and requirements include:

  • 12+ years of oil/gas industry experience, 10+ years as a petrophysicist.
  • Degree in geoscience or engineering.
  • Strong background in formation evaluation required including experience in multi-mineral, laminated or low resistivity clastics, and carbonate reservoirs.
  • Ability to work alone or in integrated teams.
  • Though the work and position are Lakewood based, some international will be required.
  • Good computer, analytical, and presentation skills.

Simulation Engineer

IRT are in need of one, potentially two, reservoir engineers to work on various simulation oriented projects in Denver and across the world. While our primary focus is reservoir simulation, we also have an increasing need for practicing reservoir engineers to help clients work on conceptual studies, data acquisition programs and day-to-day reservoir management issues.

What makes a good reservoir simulation engineer

  1. Well rounded educational / work experience background
  2. Experience with analytical methods / models for;
    1. Material balance (MBAL, for example)
    2. Pressure transient analysis (Pan Systems or PIE, for example)
    3. Vertical Flow performance (Prosper, for example)
    4. Hyd Frac analysis (FracAnal or Gohfer, for example)
  3. At some point in career, simulation needs to have been a day in / day out activity, not part-time
  4. Aptitude for computers and computing
  5. A doggedness / desire to "get to the heart / bottom" of a problem

Preferred candidate will have;

  1. 10+ years working experience
  2. Some exposure to multiple simulators (Eclipse, VIP, CMG or others)
  3. Some exposure to many types of simulation problems
    1. Black oil / compositional / thermal / EOR
    2. Clastics / carbonates / tight gas / fractured reservoirs
  4. Built simulation models from raw data as opposed to have run models someone else built
  5. Understanding of how the "numbers" are used
  6. Knowing when / how / if the "solution" fits the "problem"
